After a hard day at my regular job, curing cancer, I find it a little laughable that things like filmmaking and accountacy are considered challenging professions.

I've read "C" and "The Diving-bell and the Butterfly". Read 'em and weep. Literally.

I'd recommend these books to anyone. So here, I recommend these books:

    "C" by John Diamond

The Diving-bell and the Butterfly by Jean-Dominique Bauby

The hardest thing, I think, is the writing and the directorial (that may not be a word) planning.
    <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I pretty much agree.

I suppose if you're going to call some PA's monkies, then you should also acknowledge that there are many actors and cinematographers and directors and producers who are baboons.

Some people seem to forget that you must run the marathon before you can win the medal. Call me a monkey but I feel PA work is just as important as any other credit on a film.

    Zelig,
    -PA- Stands for Production Assistant
(You can also be a Key set PA and so forth)
It's where most film newbie's start b/c basically you can do the job without having tons of film experience but you also don't get paid very much... Which is why people are referring to them as being monkey's...

Job duties includes(In my personal experience):
Shouting "Quite on the set"... hunting down the Best Boy b/c he's not answering his walkie... getting the Director "Peanut M M's" at 3:00am-b/c craft services ran out... Cleaning up spills... Making coffee in the woods in twenty below b/c a talent didn't like Maxwell house... or Trying to be gruff with security, b/c a passer-by got in on a closed set.

Needless to say: It's not a glamour job by any means
course, The up side to getting crappy pay and belittling treatment-
you get to meet tons of people, thus helping you move up the food chain in the long run...

As they say in LA "It's not what you know, but who you know!!!"
